How to create an Appointment in Act from a Microsoft Outlook email

I am going to show you how to create an appointment in act after you have received a Microsoft Outlook email.

Many years ago I heard a speaker say that if you are disorganized before you get a computer, you will be disorganized after you get a computer. My experience has been that if you are disorganized before you purchased act, you will most likely be disorganized after you install and start using act.  The key is to develop good organizational habits and then use act to help you implement them to stay better organized.

The good news is that you can change and become more organized.

I am focusing on getting you better acquainted with the relationship between act and Microsoft Outlook. When you use Microsoft Outlook’s calendar to schedule things it is not in any way connected to a contact. When you schedule something in act you must connected to a contact. In other words, if you need to call your accountant the first step is to look up your accountant in act. Once you have looked up your accountant you can schedule a call to your accountant. When you clear that call I history record will be created and attached to that contact which happens to be your accountant. If you need to review I history of what you have done in the past it will all be attached to your accountants contact record.

So what does this have to do with act and Microsoft Outlook?

When you receive an email, for example, from your accountant, you can immediately schedule a meeting in act via that email. After you schedule an activity you can delete the email.  This helps you keep your email clean and your inbox effectively managed.  My brief video tutorial below will show you how to do that.
